Pan is the god of the forest and of the shepherd. He is described as half human and half goat. His birth was in Arcadia but there is still a discussion of which are his parents. Some say he his a son of Hermes and Rhea others say that he is a son of Crones and Rhea. Also rumor going around, that his mother was a nymph but as he saw him she was startled and left him. Hermes found the baby and brought it to the Olympus.

Often he felt in love with nymphs but however they never replied his love. The nymph Peuke transformed in a tree to escape of his desire and as Echo didn't fall in love with him he tore her up.

They say that he his also the god of panic and  490 BC in the battle of Marathon he screamed that loud and put the Persian to flight.
