Kronus
the father of Zeus was told by his parents that one of
his children will be get more strong and powerful as him. So directly
after birth Crones ate all his children. Zeus was the last child and Rhea
brought him after birth to Crete and hide him in a cave. He got raise up
by the goat Amalthea and some nymph. As he
got adult he collapse his fahter and set his brothers and sisters free.
Together they
fought against the titans and the giants. After their victory, Zeus was
the legitimate ruler of the sky and the earth. His living place was the
Olympus where he lived with other 11 gods and goddess. His weapon was
the lightening und in opposite to the other gods his power was unlimited,
he was the most powerful god. His wife was in the same time also his
sister, Hera. They had the children Ares, Hebe,
Eileithyia und Hephaistos.
He deceived Hera many many times and it was often a
matter of fights.
Out
of many love affairs Zeus got a lot of other children, gods, half gods and
hero's. With Maia he had Hermes, with Semele Dionysos
and with Leto Apollon und Artemis.
If you leave his affairs
beside he was a god of justice. He punished the wicked but alleviate also
pain and tried to gibe justice to everybody who deserved it.
